Academic conferences, congresses, symposiums and meetings are all examples of event during which researchers share their findings, ideas and experiences with each other. The published records of such events are called conference proceedings, and they usually include abstracts or reports of the papers presented by the participants. Conference proceedings are a way to keep up with the latest, often not yet published, research and finding out about new methodology. However, beware that these conference reports are not always peer-reviewed. Advice on how to determine whether a source is scientific can be found in the section Evaluating scientific sources.
