Welcome
to this guide providing information about reference management tools for staff and students at Lund University.
This site is updated by librarians at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Lund University, working with reference management programs such as EndNote. As an employee or student at the Faculty of Social Sciences you can always contact us, either Ann-Sofie Zettergren or Maja Carlson or Sara Rondahl by e-mail: ref@sambib.lu.se.
Why should I invest time in a reference management software?
A reference management software will help you collect and sort the references you need in your work. It is built like a personal library, costumized for your personal needs.
Your library will also be accessible (for some software, such as EndNote) through Microsoft Word - this will help you create the references within the text as well as the bibliography in an output style of your choice.
Which software should I use?
The Lund University Libraries Head office and LDC have a site license agreement which makes EndNote and RefWorks available to students and faculty at Lund University. The licenses are financed by the Lund University Libraries Head office and distributed by LDC.
EndNote is available for both PC and Mac and includes the following functions:
Contact your IT-department if you wish to start using EndNote.
RefWorks is a webbased software and you'll find the instructions on how to create an account in the tab above called "RefWorks".
There are many other programs available, some you will need to buy a license for yourself, others are freely accessible on the Internet. In the PowerPoint presentation below ("Research Collaboration Tools: Reference Management Software") you'll find a short presentation of for example RefWorks, Zotero, Mendeley.
