Allows users to access updates to online content in a standardized, computer-readable format.   These feeds can, for example, allow a user to keep track of many different websites in a single news aggregator

Where can I use RSS? You can use it from:

  • Databases – searches
  • Journals – table of contents, popular articles, most cited
  • Outlook mail has RSS function

Add alerts from searches in databases, citations, author updates, or from your favorite journal!

Current awareness tools and channels

What tools can I use for keeping updated?

Here are som suggestions, please contact us if you have any questions!

  • You an use journal TOCs – table of contents (By subscribing to a table of contents (ToC) alert for a journal you will receive an e-mail with the table of contents each time a new issue is published. )
  • Join professional networks, organisations, groups
  • Go active on social media! Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, Twitter. With altmetrics you can see if your research is spreading!
  • There is also bookmarking, Bibsonomy (BibSonomy helps you to manage your publications and bookmarks, to collaborate with your colleagues and to find new interesting material for your research.),
  •  Need scholarly references? CiteULike (citeulike is a free service for managing and discovering scholarly references)
  • Don't forget, supervisors, peers, colleagues and collaborators are important for staying updated!
