Open Educational Resources, OER, are resources available on Internet, free to be used and in many cases also free to modify. There are three different types of OER:
- Educational content, complete courses, course literature. It can be anything from a recorded lecture or a powerpoint presentation to an advanced simulation, an interactive quizz or an e-book or e-journal.
- Tools to develop, use, reuse or share content, i e portals (Merlot, TED)
- Copyright licences making it possible to publish open resources (Creative Commons), metadata standards and policies.
