Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources, OER, are resources available on Internet, free to be used and in many cases also free to modify. There are three different types of OER:

  • Educational content, complete courses, course literature. It can be anything from a recorded lecture or a powerpoint presentation to an advanced simulation, an interactive quizz or an e-book or e-journal.
  • Tools to develop, use, reuse or share content, i e portals (Merlot, TED)
  • Copyright licences making it possible to publish open resources (Creative Commons), metadata standards and policies.
