International Governmental Organisations (IGOs)

IGOs have international membership, scope and presence. Their primary members consist of sovereign states. These organizations bring member states together to cooperate on a particular theme or issues that have global impacts and implications such as human rights, trade, development, poverty, gender or migration.

International Security and Policy Organisation - NATO

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is an intergovernmental military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on April 4, 1949. The NATO headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium  and the organization constitutes a system of collective defense whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party.

International Organization for Migration (IOM)

"Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners.

With 127 member states, a further 17 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants."
