Academic Writing and Academic Honesty

When writing academic texts there is a standardized and consistent way of how to refer to the texts and sources that you have used. When writing an academic text you must be very careful to distinguish your own text from the parts that you have taken from others'.  To do that you need to use a referencing system/style (for example Harvard) with references within the text as well as a bibliography at the end of your text. The correct use of referencing system is not only a question of academic writing but also a question about academic honesty.

As an author you are responsible for your work and you must be able to support the statements you make. Likewise, citation and referencing must be done correctly and it is never allowed to copy, fabricate or manipulate your data.
