eBooks @ Lund University Libraries: Dawsonera

Please note!

Dawsonera ebooks can no longer be used with Adobe Reader

As of 1st November all content (both PDF's and ePub's) that are downloaded, will be via an ACSM (Adobe Content Server) file which can be opened with Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) and the Bluefire Reader; the download boxes on Dawsonera will reflect these changes. Please note that the ACSM link that Adobe Content Server produces is not supported by Adobe Reader. To be able to use ADE you will also need an Adobe ID, for help see Manage your Adobe ID account or Hantera ditt Adobe ID konto.

The Dawsonera platform consists of a catalogue of ebooks, via the sites User Portal ebooks can be “borrowed” by library users. By default Dawsonera only shows titles purchased by Lund University Libraries, LUB currently owns 975 ebooks (January 2018). LUB only use IP-address to access Dawsonera and you must enable cookies to get access. You will be referred to the ‘Terms and Conditions of Use’ page where you have to 'Accept' that you have read and accepted the terms of use. When accessing a Dawsonera ebook from LUBsearch or the library catalogue, you will enter Dawsonera at title level bypassing the homepage.

Some ebooks have limitations in the number of users. Books can have from 1 to 99 simultaneous users, so some titles may have as low as one (1) simultaneous user. If the book is already in use by the allocated number of users, the next user may queue for the book. The system will email the first person in the queue, once the reservation and loan period is up: Click on the Add to queue button. A new window opens, you will now be able to see how many people there are in the queue. If you still would like to queue for the book, please enter your email address. You will receive an email once the book is available to read.

Most of the ebooks on Dawsonera are purchased under a credit-based model, when the number of credits for a book runs out the book can only be previewed until the credits are "renewed" or another copy is purchased. For more information please see the Dawsonera Credits FAQ below.

In the Result List of LUBsearch and ePublications there is a link to 'Terms of Use' where you will find information about the number of simultaneous users and the terms of use for downloading and printing for each individual ebook:
